CREATIVE ENERGIES:
Renewing our Relationship with the Divine

A Women’s Circle
Laguna Bacalar, Mexico

March 21-28, 2009

Laguna Bacalar - the Laguna de Siete Colores - is a natural sanctuary chosen by the sages of ancient Maya people as a place of purification, healing and rebirth. The creators of Akal-ki have designed and built their beautiful resort with respect and reverence for the holy ground it rests on.  Akal-ki has embraced the essence and purpose of this sacred land…with its crystalline waters, extraordinary peace, harmony, and balance.

We invite you to enjoy nature’s song and the harmonies of its silence at the edge of this lake with seven shadings of turquoise blue/green colors.  We will be filled with joy as we contemplate our creative energies…as the lake immerses us with life and purity.  In the morning, the dawn sky kisses the earth with its golden hues and the birds sing sweetly.  At night, the spectacle of the heavens, the seven sacred sisters, are reflected in the lake, while grandmother moon watches over us.

Laguna Bacalar, an enormous thirty-mile long fresh-water lake fed by a number of underground rivers and cenotes…wells up with crystal clear, turquoise waters…full of possibilities.  The elegant cabanas are on the shoreline of the lake and you can hear gentle lapping waves as you sit on your private deck.  At the end of a long beautiful pier is the palapa we will use for circle time, delicately perched on the edge of earth, air and water.

Everywhere you put your feet at Akal-ki, the energy is about creation… quiet, reverent, holy.  This amazing lake and landscape evoke the deep energy of creativity, and it becomes clear that at its heart, creativity is a process, an internal conversation and relationship with our own divine nature, as well as the Divine energies outside of our selves.

Our urge to create flows out of the deep, holy well at the center of our being.  It is in this deepest well that we know our relationship with divinity and dwell in our own wisdom and beauty nature.  From this fundamental core arises a fountain of joy and bliss, healing and compassion, art and beauty.

We will journey one day to see the ancient Mayan city and temple of Kohunlich, which is known for its enormous stucco masks carved into the pyramid of the sun.  This area is in the remote heartland of La Ruta Maya, not far from Akal-ki. Completely surrounded by the lush foliage of the tropical jungle, this time-worn ruin has a mystical quality that is enhanced by a lack of tourists, who seldom venture this far south.  For that reason it is frequented by tropical wildlife and exotic birds.

We invite you to replenish your relationship with your divine nature, in a circle of women, committed to healing and creative energies

Our time will be spent drinking in the deep waters of replenishment and revitalizing our creative juices.  Inhabiting Akal-ki means cultivating focused attention on the myriad of blessings and beauty that flow freely in each of us every day.
